Prophets and Jesus both give warnings to those who do not heed the reappearance of old patterns which play out harm to the people of God. It is easy to feel as though darkness is closing in and will envelop everything. But there is good news, even in dark times, for those who know Christ.
Jesus calls his followers to begin living in the kingdom where charity means a radical reorganizing of how resources are gathered and shared, tending to the needs of each without regard for their ability to contribute. This trust in God’s abundance is a tall order for 21st century Canadians.
